With thousands of students, faculty and visitors on campus every day, ensuring their safety and securing buildings, grounds, and personal information is a challenging, 24x7 job. Every semester there is student and faculty turnover and every day there are different visitors on campus. Being able to rapidly enforce access control privileges - who can access what building and computer – and automatically respond to on-campus security incidents is a must.
RedCloud enables university system administrators to quickly and easily manage student, faculty and visitor facility access privileges from any web browser, for anytime, anywhere access without being tied to a dedicated client workstation or paying for software licenses per user. Ensure centralized and real-time management and visibility of parking lots, campus buildings, hallways, classrooms and dorms without the cost and administrative burden found with traditional access control solutions. RedCloud's revolutionary convergence platform enables the seamless integration of the RedCloud physical access control system (PACS) with IT and logical security systems to deliver a new standard in performance, scalability and efficiency.
RedCloud leverages an open architecture and allows campus security and IT administrators to seamlessly integrate IT and physical security systems, such as Identity Access Management (IAM), Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), Physical Security & Information Management (PSIM) and Video Management Systems (VMS), as well as traditional back end tools such as student enrollment and faculty employment databases, to correlate physical and logical security event information, monitor alarms and rapidly respond to unauthorized activities.
For example, if a student props open a door to a computer lab for longer than allowed by policy or if forced open by a trespasser, a video signal can be triggered to campus security and an alarm will signal computers in the computer lab to suspend network access.
RedCloud network appliances ship pre-installed with a secure, open-source, Linux-based operating system (OS), which significantly reduces the risk of virus attacks, frees administrators from installing Windows security patches and ongoing anti-virus updates and eliminates the cost of operating system licenses and upgrade fees. And unlike proprietary access control systems, RedCloud enables institutions to leverage investments in virtualization, with the only VMware Ready access control solution, and non-proprietary field hardware, including contact smart card, contactless smart card, proximity, magnetic stripe and bar-code.
